Gospel of the day...

Saturday 7/JUL/12
Gospel of the day

Mt 9, 14-17.

Fasting for love.

They approached the disciples of John the Baptist and said, "Why do your disciples do not fast, as do we and the Pharisees?". Jesus replied, "Do the friends of the husband can be sad while the bridegroom is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken away, then they will fast. No one uses a piece of clothing again to patch an old garment, for added piece away from the garment and the rent is made larger. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins because the wineskins burst, the wine is spilled and the bottles perish. No, new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved ".

reflection:

And we Catholics must fast? Sure, because Jesus was taken to heaven and while we await his coming in glory we must do penance. But we should not fast as did the Pharisees and the disciples of John, but must do so in love, love in giving up food or other taste.New wine in new bottles! The core of our actions must be love. Do everything for the love of God and the brethren. So then the little sacrifices that we have much value to God and do it with pleasure, because we also know that we do attract assets to the Mystical Body, because, for example, if I deprive myself of eating a dessert, maybe a poor one instead get some bread.

Let us ask the Blessed Virgin the grace to make small sacrifices with joy and love, knowing that we do a great good to souls, honor God and benefit ourselves.

Jesus, Mary, I love you, save souls.
