Sunday 28/JUL/13

Gospel of the Day

Lk 11: 1-13.

Persevere in prayer.

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples." He then said: "When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not fall into temptation ". Jesus said: "Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him at midnight, and said: 'Friend, lend me three loaves, because one of my friends came to stay and I have nothing to offer', and from within him responds: 'No bother me, now the door is locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can not get up and give you anything '. I tell you, though he will not get up to give him, because he is his friend, will rise at least because of his insistence and give you everything you need. Also assure you: ask and you shall receive, seek and find, knock and it shall be opened. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Is there among you any father who gives his son a snake when he asks for a fish? What if he asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! ".

Reflection:

Today's Gospel is themed prayer. The Lord teaches us the Lord's Prayer, which is the prayer that understands everything, and teaches us that we must be persistent in prayer, because God is a good Father who gives the best for their children, but their children need it asked.

Yes, God chose to establish a rule to give thanks and gifts, and this rule is we should ask these graces and gifts in prayer, because if we do not pray, do not get anything, and every day go from bad to worse until completely cool off charity and lose faith.

The soul who does not pray, little by little interesting for worldly things and materials, and loses sight of heaven and spiritual things, then falls in materialism, which is the error of Satan and no longer cares for the salvation of his soul and that of his brothers.

Pray every day, talk to God, to the Virgin, because on it depends our salvation and that of many neighbors. Remember the words of the Virgin of Fatima: "Many souls go to hell because there is no one to pray and sacrifice for them." Let us heed this request of Our Lady to pray for us and for all, because he always told the truth that will meet St. Alphonsus Liguori: "He who prays is saved and who does not pray will be lost."

Let us ask the Blessed Virgin to pray grace everything possible during the day, and be constant in prayer, as was she, and that his hand go deeper in their relationship with God.
