Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Psalm 77, 3-4BC. 23-25. 54
2 nd Reading Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 4: 17. 20-24
Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John 6, 24-35
"I say and I recommend on behalf of the Lord, do not come like the heathen, who are led by the frivolity of his thoughts and mind are obscured. They are separated from the life of God through ignorance and obstinacy, and having lost the moral sense, have given to vice, wantonly committing every kind of impurity.
But that's not what you learned from Christ. " (Eph 4, 17-20).
The pagan abandon life, we asked the Apostle Paul in the 2nd reading, is to reject one's own self, ill will that holds captive the truth, or emptiness of thought. Means freedom from all that life away from human reality, thought and willed by the Creator to find again as a gift a heart sensitive to all calls of goodness, truth, beauty.
"Listen, son, the precepts of the Master, and incline the ear of your heart gladly receives the advice of a godly father, and stick to it really. So come back for the work of obedience to Him from whom you were away. " (Prologue of the Rule of St. Benedict).

"If today you hear his voice, harden not your heart." (Ps 94.8).
In the Gospel of John, Jesus calls us one thing: adherence to God's plan is, "what God expects of us is to believe in him whom he has sent." (V 29).
The crowd like many of us today, waiting for a particular sign and loud, to recognize Jesus as the prophet of messianic times. Jesus really, truly gives us the new manna, because their food is much higher than the parents ate in the wilderness, he gives eternal life to all. But only he who has faith can receive that gift. The real food is the gift of the Son, the Father offers us men, because he is "the true bread from heaven." (V33).
Whoever adheres to Jesus, gives meaning to your life and get your own happiness.
"Download your concerns in the Lord and He will sustain you" (Ps. 55.23). What worries you? Why are you troubled? He who has made deals with you. The already took care of you before you were born did not take care of you now, you're what he wanted you? Do not take care of you who "makes his sun rise on good and bad and sends rain on the just and unjust? (Mt 5.45). Does desentenderá you leave, you leave him alone you, you're right and you live in the faith? Instead, he crowns you with benefits, it helps, it gives you is what is necessary, defends you from adversity. Granting you gifts to comfort you persevere, quitándotelos corrects you lest you be consumed. The Lord cares for you, rest assured, you hold that you have done: you will not fall by the hand of your Creator. (Augustine, Commentary on the Psalms, 38.18).
