A severe poverty.
Today there is much talk of poverty and the poor, but not infrequently poverty is taken only material poverty, forgetting the worst kind of poverty that is spiritual, when souls are devoid of God, without sanctifying grace.Now there's poverty should be a priority in our ministry, but we also need material poverty relief!
Because Jesus was helping material poverty, to announce to the poor to God. And if succor to the poor but do not give them the truth, then we are just workers of philanthropy, we have no true Christian charity.
The Church was founded by Christ to deal only with the materially poor, but mainly for the salvation of souls, to proclaim to all people the Good News of salvation, and so all become and stop sinning.
What kind of church is one that speaks of the poor, but that does not condemn the sin and see it as an evil, the true and only evil, all the misfortunes that come to the world?
Watch for, and help them graciously to the poor, both materially poor, and poor spiritual, and so shall we in Truth.
