"Christ gave us the new commandment to love as He loved us. This renews love for new men, heirs of the New Testament and singing the new song. This love, dear brothers, renewed and then the righteous of old, to the patriarchs and prophets, as renewed after the apostles, and is now also renews all nations and that of all mankind, spread throughout the world, form and brings a new people, the new body Wife of God's only begotten Son, which is said in the Song of Songs: Who is this coming up white? From this death the Apostle said: You are dead and your life is hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3). And perhaps for this reason it is said love is strong as death (8:6). This love makes even die for this world when we are in this mortal flesh, and our life is hidden with Christ in God, even more, the same love is our death to the world and our life with God. For if death is the departure of the soul from the body, how not to be death when the world comes to our love? Strong as death is love. What could be stronger than that with which overcomes the world. "

Los Padres de la Iglesia nos iluminan

“Cristo nos dio el mandato nuevo de amarnos como Él nos amó. Este amor nos renueva para ser hombres nuevos, herederos del Nuevo Testamento y cantores del nuevo cántico. Este amor, carísimos hermanos, renovó ya entonces a los justos de la antigüedad, a los patriarcas y profetas, como renovó después a los apóstoles, y es el que también ahora renueva a todas las gentes; y el que de todo el género humano, difundido por todo el orbe, forma y congrega un pueblo nuevo, cuerpo de la nueva Esposa del Hijo unigénito de Dios, de la que se dice en el Cantar de los Cantares: ¿Quién es esta que sube blanca? (Ct 8,5). Blanca, sí, porque está renovada, y. ¿por quién sino por el mandato nuevo? Por esto en ella los miembros se atienden unos a otros, y si un miembro sufre, con él sufren los otros; y si un miembro es honrado, con él se alegran todos los miembros.

[Ellos] oyen y observan el mandato nuevo que les doy, de amarse unos a otros, no como se aman los hombres por ser hombres, sino como se aman por ser dioses e hijos del Altísimo todos, (Sal  81,6) para que sean hermanos de su único Hijo, amándose mutuamente con el amor con que El los ha amado,para conducirlos a aquel fin que les sacie y satisfaga todos sus deseos. Entonces, cuando Dios sea todo en todas las cosas (1Cor 15,28), no habrá nada que desear. Este fin no tiene fin. Nadie muere allí adonde nadie llega sin morir antes a este mundo, no con la muerte común a todos, consistente en la separación del alma del cuerpo, sino con la muerte de los justos, por la cual, aun permaneciendo en la carne mortal, se coloca allá arriba el corazón.

De esta muerte decía el Apóstol: Ustedes están muertos y su vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios(Col 3,3). Y quizá por esta razón se ha dicho: Fuerte es el amor como la muerte (Ct 8,6) . Este amor hace que muramos para este mundo aun cuando estemos en esta carne mortal, y nuestra vida esté escondida con Cristo en Dios; aún más, el mismo amor es nuestra muerte para el mundo y nuestra vida con Dios. Porque, si la muerte es la salida del alma del cuerpo, ¿cómo no ha de ser muerte cuando del mundo sale nuestro amor? Fuerte como la muerte es el amor. ¿Qué puede haber más fuerte que aquello con que se vence al mundo”.
