St. Luke the EvangelistCentury IThanks Lucas for your beautiful gospel and your book of Acts ofthe Apostles. We often read such beautiful writings.Be merciful as your heavenly Fatheris merciful (Luke 6:36).Lucas means "bright light" (from the Latin "looks" = light).Luke wrote two books very famous: the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. It is a very nice writer, and the one with the most beautiful style in the New Testament. His two little books are read with real pleasure. He was a doctor. St. Paul calls "Luke, the beloved physician," and probably took care of the failing health of the great apostle. Was traveling companion of St. Paul. In the Acts of the Apostles, to narrate the great journeys of the Apostle speaks in the plural, saying "we went to ... navigate to ..." And narrates in detail the events so stunning that happened to St. Paul in his four famous voyages. Luke accompanied St. Paul when he was imprisoned, first two years in Caesarea and then two in Rome. It is the only New Testament writer who is not Israeli. It was Greek. The poet Dante San Lucas gave this name, "which describes the kindness of Christ." And rightly Cardinal Mercier when a student said, "Please advise what is the best book ever written about Jesus Christ," he said, "The best book ever written about Jesus Christ is called: The Gospel San Lucas ". One author called this writing: "The world's most charming book."As a doctor was very understanding. They say a theoretical office, go to the people better than they are. A sociologist sees them worse than they really are. But the doctor sees each one as it is. San Lucas saw people as they are (half and half weakness goodwill) and loved and understood. In his gospel shows great esteem for women. All women who are friendly and there are always Jesus shows great appreciation and true understanding. His gospel is the easiest to read of all four. Is 1,200 lines written in good literary style. He has been called "the gospel of the poor" because there always preferring Jesus appears small, the sick, the poor and repentant sinners. It is a Jesus who runs to meet those for whom life is harder and distressing. It has also been called "the gospel of prayer" because it presents Jesus praying in all the great moments of his life and continually insisting on the need to pray always and not get tired of praying.Another name you have given to your letter is the "gospel of sinners" because Jesus has always infinitely sympathetic to those who have been victims of human passions. Luke wants to insist that God's love has no limits or rejects who wants to repent and change their lives. So sinners read with much pleasure and comfort the gospel of Luke. It was written for them. His gospel is narrating the events of Jesus' childhood, and he has inspired the most famous painters to depict scenes in images so kind. They say he died unmarried, at the age of 84, after having spent his life in doing know and love our Lord Jesus Christ.
