Gospel of the day...

Saturday 25/AGO/12
Gospel of the Day

Mt 23, 1-12.

Before God.

Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: The Scribes and Pharisees occupy the chair of Moses, you make and keep everything they are told, but not be guided by their works, because they do what they say. They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of others, while they do not want to move even a finger. Everything is done for you to see: enlarged phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments like occupy the first places at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, to be greeted in the marketplaces and being called "my teacher" by the people. As for you, do not call "master", because they have only one Master and you are all brothers. No one in the world called "father", because they have but one Father in heaven. Do not be called either "doctors", because only a doctor, who is Messiah. The greatest among you will be the one that serves them, for he who exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

reflection:

"Everything they do for to be seen." This was the conduct of the scribes and Pharisees of Jesus' day. We must carefully avoid this error and try to act only to please God. Consider that what men may say, for good or bad about us, does not matter. It only matters what God says about us, and that's what we have to take care, that God's opinion is favorable on our behavior and be happy with our work.

Let us ask the Blessed Virgin ever desilusionemos to our loving God.

Jesus, Mary, I love you, save souls.
